你就是个奇迹 A Marvel
Each second we live is a new and unique moment of the universe， a moment that will never be again … And what do we teach our children? We teach them that two and two make four， and that Paris is the capital of France.
When will we also teach them what they are?
We should say to each of them： Do you know what you are? You are a marvel. You are unique. In all the years that have passed， there has never been another child like you. Your legs， your arms， your clever fingers， the way you move.
You may become a Shakespeare， a Michelangelo， a Beethoven. You have the capacity for anything. Yes， you are a marvel. And when you grow up， can you then harm another who is， like you， a marvel?
You must work — we must all work — to make the world worth of its children.
Letter to a Young Friend by Benjamin Franklin
My dear friend
I know of no medicine fit to diminish the violent natural inclination you mention; and if I did， I think I should not communicate it to you. Marriage is the proper remedy. It is the most natural State of man， and therefore the state in which you will find solid Happiness.Your reason against entering into it at present appears to be not well founded. The circumstantial advantages you have in view by postponing it， are not only uncertain， but they are small in comparison with the thing itself， the being married and settled. It is the man and woman united that makes the complete human Being， Separate she wants his force of body and strength of reason; he her softness， sensibility and acute discernment. Together they are most likely to succeed in the world. A single man has not nearly the value he would have in that state of union. He is an incomplete animal. He resembles the odd half of a pair of scissors.
If you get a prudent， health wife， your industry in your profession， with her good economy， will be a fortune sufficient.
Your affectionate Friend
Once upon a time， there was an island where all the feelings lived： Happiness， Sadness， Knowledge， and all of the others， including Love. One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink， so all constructed boats and left. Except for Love.
Love was the only one who stayed. Love wanted to hold out until the last possible moment.
When the island had almost sunk， Love decided to ask for help.
Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love said，
"Richness， can you take me with you?"
Richness answered， "No， I can't. There is a lot of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place here for you."
Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel. "Vanity， please help me!"
"I can't help you， Love. You are all wet and might damage my boat，" Vanity answered.
Sadness was close by so Love asked， "Sadness， let me go with you."
"Oh . . . Love， I am so sad that I need to be by myself!"
Happiness passed by Love， too， but she was so happy that she did not even hear when Love called her.
Suddenly， there was a voice， "Come， Love， I will take you." It was an elder. So blessed and overjoyed， Love even forgot to ask the elder where they were going. When they arrived at dry land， the elder went her own way. Realizing how much was owed the elder， Love asked Knowledge， another elder， "Who Helped me?"
"It was Time，" Knowledge answered.
"Time?" asked Love. "But why did Time help me?"
Knowledge smiled with deep wisdom and answered， "Because only Time is capable of understanding how valuable Love is."
